Power Strips and Surge Protection in Lebanon: 220 V, Generators and Safe Loads
For Lebanon's 220 V supply, choose a power strip rated for 250 V with a maximum load above what you plan to plug in. Most LDNIO strips at Buyrouth are rated 2500 W (10 A), many have child safety shutters, and most add USB charging, from $14 to $39. Keep heaters, kettles and water heaters on their own wall socket. A power strip is not a voltage stabiliser or a UPS: it won't fix low voltage or the short cut when power switches between the grid and the generator.
Watts, amps and 220 V
Power in watts is volts × amps. A strip rated 10 A at 250 V can carry up to 2500 W in total, across all its sockets. Before you plug in, add up the watts printed on each appliance's label. A kettle or heater can use most of that alone; a TV, router and chargers together use far less.
Your generator subscription sets a second limit. On a 5 A subscription, the whole home can draw about 1,100 W at 220 V (5 × 220), whatever the strip is rated for.
What "surge protection" means on these listings
Several LDNIO listings describe protection against spikes and fluctuations: the LDNIO SC10610 says up to 16 devices, and the SE2435, SC2413 and SE3338 say up to 6. None of them gives a joule rating or a clamping voltage, so consider it basic protection. For a desktop computer, a gaming console or a large TV on generator power, unplug or switch off the strip during switchovers, or use a separate UPS or stabiliser.

Safe-use checklist
- Don't plug one power strip into another.
- Keep the total load under the strip's rating: 2500 W for the LDNIO strips above.
- Plug heaters, kettles, irons, water heaters and air conditioners straight into a wall socket.
- Fully unwind long extension cords before you use them under load.
- Switch off or unplug sensitive electronics during generator switchovers and storms.
- Replace any strip that feels hot, smells of burning or shows scorch marks.

Frequently asked questions
Does a power strip protect my TV from generator voltage drops?
No. Surge protection, where a listing mentions it, deals with short spikes. It doesn't raise low voltage or bridge the cut during a switchover. For sensitive equipment, switch off during changeovers or use a UPS or stabiliser.
How many watts can I plug into one strip?
The LDNIO strips here are rated 2500 W (10 A) in total. Add up the labels of everything you plug in and stay below that, and remember your generator subscription limit.
Do these strips take UK three-pin plugs?
The universal-socket models do: the SC5415, SC2 and SC1017 listings say they accept UK, EU and US plugs. The SE6403 has F-type (Schuko) sockets for European plugs.
Can I plug an air conditioner or water heater into a power strip?
It's safer not to. High-power appliances should go straight into a wall socket that is rated for them.
